Karnataka: Basavaraj Bommai, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, said on Tuesday that there is no dissatisfaction among his cabinet colleagues over the nomination of district in-charge Ministers, and that he had spoken to them all before and after the exercise.

Few Ministers went so far as to openly voice their discontent with not being appointed to their home districts as the Chief Minister did. "I spoke to everyone (Ministers) before and after selecting them as district in-charge Ministers." Ministers should be in charge of other districts, not their own, according to our party's national policy," Bommai stated.

He told reporters here that the appointments were made after extensive consultations with each individual. "There has been no expression of dissatisfaction, there is no such thing..... I have spoken to all Ministers, there is no question of dissatisfaction." We are all united as one and have resolved to work for the people, which we are doing... the talk of discontent or dissatisfaction is far from the truth," he added.

On Monday, over six months after taking office, Bommai distributed districts to his Cabinet Ministers, who will be in charge of them, while leaving the vital Bengaluru urban district to himself.

The Chief Minister has not allocated any minister their home districts under which their Assembly constituency falls, a dramatic departure from the previous B S Yediyurappa-led BJP government.
