Bangalore: Bus services remained suspended in most parts of the state on Friday, the third day of an indefinite strike by drivers and operators of the Road Transport Corporation (RTC) overpay issues in Karnataka. Due to lack of work by most of the employees of all the four transport corporations, buses remained missing from most of the roads across the state including Bengaluru, causing problems to passengers.

In view of the impact of the strike, Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa has joined hands and appealed for an end to the strike and asked them to return to work. Accusing Congress leader and former CM Siddaramaiah, he said, "I appeal to transport workers with folded hands. Don't listen to what people are saying and don't be stubborn. Despite the problems of last year, when there was no money for salary in your department, we gave 23 crores. Siddaramaiah is giving you the wrong information. Congress leader Siddaramaiah has been constantly targeting the Yeddyurappa government over the strike issue.

Earlier, the state government had once again made it clear on Thursday evening that the government would not agree to the demands for implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission report. Meanwhile, the RTC employees decided to continue the strike even after warning of strict action.
