BENGALURU: According to authorities, a college student in Karnataka was arrested on Wednesday for blackmailing aspiring female models by altering their photos and threatening to post them on social media.

Prapanch Nachappa, a 23-year-old Kodagu resident, is a student at a Bengaluru-based private institution.Prapanch Nachappa, according to authorities, created a false Instagram account in the name of a woman. He introduced himself as Prateeksha Bora, a model, and posted about modelling prospects.

The gullible girls who were looking for an opportunity responded to his announcements and called him. He had given his cellphone number as contact. He also went for attractive women. In the mornings and nights, he sent them greetings. He suggested them to join modelling after conversing and getting leniency.

After being contacted, the accused requested that the females provide their bold photographs. He also offered to pay them Rs 2,000 for each photograph they took. He also assured them that a photograph of them in a bikini would get them Rs 10,000.
