BANGALORE: Monday marked the start of the first legislative session of the newly elected Karnataka Legislative Assembly, and Congress MLA for the Mandya constituency Ravi Ganiga made a stunning entry to the Legislative Assembly on a bullock cart. People are speculating over whether the Congress leader came from his constituency, which is about 100kilometerss from Bangalore, after seeing images of his entrance on social media.

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot swore in senior Congressman RV Deshpande as the pro-term Speaker on Monday to kick off the Karnataka Assembly's session. During the three-day session, all 224 MLAs will take the oath of office, and the newly elected MLAs will also choose a permanent Speaker of the House.

At the Bangalore State Assembly earlier, Congress workers offered cow urine and conducted Pooja. They asserted that doing this would "purify" the Vidhana Soudha.

On Saturday, the Karnataka Government had its first Cabinet meeting, during which Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and the other eight councils of ministers of the state discussed various issues. The government issued directives for the execution of the "five guarantees" it made during the state's congressional election campaign.
