BANGALORE: In response to the Centre's imposition of a five-year ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI), the Karnataka Congress urged a ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday.

Siddaramaiah, the leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, told the media that the Congress will not object to a ban on any organisations that engage in anti-social activities. He demanded that the organisation be outlawed since it was engaged in anti-social activities.

"The RSS stirs up social instability. He believed that all organisations engaged in hate politics should be outlawed. Why has PFI not been banned for years. We sought the prohibition, and it has been implemented," Siddaramaiah said.

In response to Siddaramaiah's proposal to ban the RSS, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, "Like the cat always eyes on mice, Siddaramaiah will be waiting for an opportunity to accuse the RSS. "He will relate any development to the RSS, regardless of what it may be. If he doesn't adopt the RSS moniker, he cannot engage in politics. Is there any justification for banning RSS?," CM Bommai demanded.

"Siddaramaiah had reopened charges involving PFI employees. Does he require any other proof? he questioned. Should RSS's patriotic efforts be outlawed? RSS offers assistance to those in need. They are working hard to protect this nation's traditions and culture. Should they be prohibited due to these? Bommai asked.

"The RSS is a patriotic organisation that fosters patriotism in this nation. Demanding its suspension would be pointless, he said.

Tanveer Sait, a Congress MLA, referred to the PFI ban as a BJP political ploy. In response, CM Bommai claimed that Tanveer Sait had been the target of a murder attempt. He had demanded that the PFI be stopped. What can be stated now that he has forgotten about the attempted assassination of him for political benefit and claims it was driven by politics? said CM Bommai.
