Corona breaks all records in Karnataka, 22,900 new cases reported

Bangalore: A record 39,047 new cases of corona virus infection have been reported in Karnataka on Wednesday in a day. According to the Health Department, 229 more infected people have died in the state in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people who lost their lives due to covid infection in the state to 15,036. Only 22,956 new cases have been registered in the capital Bengaluru itself.

The ever increasing new cases have also adversely affected the health system in Bengaluru or elsewhere. Karnataka has more than 3 lakh active cases, of which 2 lakh are in Bengaluru alone. With the advent of record new cases, the total number of infection cases in the state has gone up to 14.39 lakh. Earlier the highest number of cases came on April 25, when infection was detected in 38,804 people. According to the health department, 10,95,883 people have recovered from infection in Karnataka so far. According to him, 3,28,884 patients are undergoing treatment in the state, out of which 2,192 are in icu of various hospitals.

After Bengaluru, 1,759 new cases have been reported in Mysuru, 1,194 in Kolar, 1,174 in Tumakuru, 1,106 in Bellary, and 1,001 in Hassan. Only Bengaluru died on Wednesday, while 11 infected people died in Mysuru. The Karnataka government has imposed a 14-day lockdown to prevent rapidly increasing corona infection, which came into effect from Tuesday night. The state government has said that public transport like metro trains and buses will be banned during lockdown.
