Bangalore: The Election Commission announced the dates for the Karnataka elections in a press conference today. Whereas the date of polling has been kept on May 10, the date of counting the votes has been fixed for May 13. Significantly, this time the term of the assembly is coming to an end on May 24.
Karnataka will go to the polls in a single phase on May 10. The results of the 224 assembly seats in the state will be announced on May 13.
According to the Election Commission, there are a total of 5,213,579 voters in the state. 9.17 lakh new voters have been added in Karnataka. There are more than 16,000 voters above the age of 100. Voters above 80 years of age will be able to vote from home. Those who are turning 18 on April 1 will also be able to vote. 224 such booths have been made, in which youth employees will be deployed. Divyang employees will be deployed at 100 booths.
The Election Commission has said that there are 9.17 lakh new voters in Karnataka who will vote for the first time. The election process will be completed before May 24. There are 5.22 million registered voters in Karnataka. Voters above 80 years of age will be provided the facility to vote from home for the first time. The same good decision of the commission is that it has started the facility of voting from home for people above 80 years of age and for Divyang.
