Bengaluru: 5 persons have been detained by the Railway Protection Force under the Railway Property (Illegal Occupation) Act. The accused were selling the remdesivir medicines of Mandal Railway Hospital at higher rates by stealing and black marketing. Based on reliable information, Railway Protection Force conducted raids and 5 persons were taken into custody under Section 3 of railways. These include one ambulance driver and four other employees.

The same criminal works on contract as a D class employee in a railway hospital. All the criminals have been produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. The criminal employees have been suspended and disciplinary action has been initiated against them by the Railway Administration.

At the same time, Baiyappanahalli police detained the person involved in black marketing of Remdesivir injection and recovered 13 injections. According to police, Manu (26), a resident of Anant Nagar in electronic city, worked in a private hospital in Konappan Agrahar. He used to steal injections of admitted patients in the ICU unit and keep them with him. The strategy was to sell an injection for Rs 25,000. Manu was taken into custody while trying to sell injections near a private hospital in Kaggadaspur. 13 injections were seized from his possession.
