Karnataka formulates SOPs prior to starting colleges on Nov 17

The Karnataka State authorities on Monday stated it has formulated Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to be in place when diploma, engineering and diploma colleges within the state recommence from November 17 after an almost 8-month gap.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, who holds the upper schooling portfolio, stated that preparation is underway to enable the start of the off-line classes. The SOPs according to UGC tips has separate advisories for I, II and closing year college students, as per which courses could be held.

Post-graduate and final year students who aspire to attend classes physically should bring in the consent letter of their parents in the prescribed duly signed by them. While conducting the physical classes social distance needs to be kept by taking into account the total number of students and the available total number of classrooms, as per the guidelines of the health department and the present advisories. Teaching, practical and project classes should be conducted on shift-system if it is necessary. For those students who want to skip attending physical classes, an online facility will be there. According to the Standard Operating Procedures, the teaching faculty should prepare the study materials needed for the duration of one month based on each period/session.
