Karnataka govt prohibits cow slaughtering on Bakrid

BENGALURU: On Bakrid, which falls on Saturday, the Karnataka government has instructed the relevant authorities to make sure that no cows be slaughtered in the state.

It said that no cow, calf, ox, buffalo, or camel may be slaughtered throughout the celebration. Helplines and task squads have been established to monitor and file FIRs as necessary to ensure its implementation.

People can report instances of noncompliance, such as the movement of cows, through these helplines. Bakrid festivities will start on Saturday and end on Sunday night.

On the official social media accounts of the government, posters are being posted urging people not to do it. A task force has also been set up by the government to strictly enforce the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, often known as the Anti-Cow Slaughter Act.
