Bangalore: The Yeddyurappa government of Karnataka has closed the borders with Kerala as a precautionary measure in view of the continuous increase in corona cases. In such a situation, the problems of people visiting different areas of Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada have increased once again with the increase in toughness on travelers coming from Kerala.
Long queues of vehicles were seen in the border areas since morning due to the sealing of several routes including the national highway. Only those who have a certificate of not getting corona infection are being allowed to enter the state. Sources have informed that barring four roads, the Dakshina Kannada administration has closed all borders. According to Karnataka officials posted on the border, those who wish to enter the state will have to show a certificate of RT-PCR check-up 72 hours before the visit.
Health and police personnel on the outskirts at Talapady in Mangalore Taluk, Saradaka in Bantwal, Nettanige-Mudnur in Puttur Taluk, and Jalsoor in Sullia are allowing people to enter Karnataka after verifying the certificates. People in Kasaragod and the surrounding areas in the northern part of Kerala have been visiting Mangalore in Karnataka for treatment for decades. Mangalore has a distance of 10 to 50 km from various areas of Kasargod, while the nearby Bada Hospital is located in Kannur, which is 100 km away.
