Bangalore: Can a hijab/burqa be worn with a school dress or not? There has been an uproar in Karnataka over this issue. On the one hand, there are Muslim girls who are telling their identity to the hijab, on the other hand, there are other students who say that they want equality. Girls should not wear burqas in school, if they are allowed, they will also come to school wearing saffron safa. Yesterday, while stone pelting and ruckus were taking place in the matter, on the other hand, the matter was being heard in the Karnataka High Court.

Arguments in the Karnataka High Court to justify the girls' burqa went from Quran, hadith to menstruation. In order to keep the demand of the Muslim girls right, advocate Devdutt Kamat, appearing for them, referred to the hadith quoted in the Kerala High Court judgment and wrote that after the girls start menstruating, it is not right for them to show any part of the body to anyone except their hands. An attempt was made to prove that it was an essentially religious activity directed by the Quran.

Let us tell you that even though this protest is being carried out in the name of 'hijab' (a cloth covering the head and neck, which shows the face), Muslim girl students can be seen entering educational institutions and performing in the burqa (the entire black cloth that is covered from head to toe). It is clear from this that it is not only about the hijab that covers the neck and head, but about the burqa worn all over the body. However, the matter is still sub-judice in the High Court and the court will decide after hearing all the arguments.
