Hubli (Karnataka): A section 144 curfew has been imposed in Karnataka's Hubli city after a mob flung stones at the old Hubli police station on Saturday night, injuring four officers. The ban will last till April 23, according to the police. A total of 12 cases have been filed in relation with the law and order situation, resulting in 134 arrests.

Labhu Ram, the police commissioner of Hubballi-Dharwad, stated, "The main case was filed in connection with the April 16 night (stone-pelting) incident, while we filed 12 cases in connection with the law and order situation, resulting in 134 arrests. In the South Subdivision 5 PS limit, Section 144 will be in effect until Saturday."

The commissioner also stated that a student who was being held in judicial custody for a stone-pelting incident had been granted permission to take the exam by the court. "The court has granted Abhishek, a student under judicial custody, permission to take the exam. We'll make the necessary arrangements "Ram expressed his thoughts.

On April 16, four police officers, including one inspector, were hurt in a stone-pelting incident at the Old Hubli Police Station. The throng that had gathereed outside the police station became enraged and began throwing stones at the station and police vehicles.  The police used lathi-charge in an attempt to disperse the mob, but the mob went insane, so they deployed tear gas shells to disperse them.
