Bangalore: Police have achieved great success in the Mysore rape case. Today, 5 accused have been arrested. Home Minister Araga Jnanendra informed this and said, "Our police team demonstrated efficiency. I thank my police." Earlier, after the case was taken up, state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai strongly said that our police have taken the matter seriously. Moreover, five teams constituted to investigate the case are engaged. At the same time, orders have been issued to nab the culprits at the earliest.

Praising the state police, CM Bommai said, "Our police have busted several cases in the past. The special team investigating the case had recorded the statement of the victim's friend yesterday." The report suggests that the victim's friend had informed the police about the entire incident on August 24. He said that the place was known to him and he used to go there every day and wake up. Further, assisting the police, the victim's friend said that all the accused are between 25 and 30 years of age.

According to media reports, the news of the rape of a medical student in Mysore came to light a few days ago. The medical student was allegedly booked for gang rape at Lalitadripura on the outskirts of the city. Police had said that the medical student was riding back on a bike with a friend towards Chamunda Hills when some miscreants stopped her and carried out the incident. The victim is currently admitted to the hospital while her friend has also been treated. The Karnataka Home Minister had also made a controversial statement in the matter which had sparked a controversy. However, he later withdrew his statement saying that he did not intend to hurt anyone.
