Bangalore: In the Karnataka election results, several senior politicians from the BJP and Congress came out on top while some well-known figures fell short.

In the race for the Shiggaon seat, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is ahead of Congress candidate Pathan Yasirahmedkhan.

BJP candidate R Ashoka is being challenged by Karnataka Congress chairman DK Shivakumar, who is leading from Kanakapura and is expected to win by a wide margin.

Priyank Kharge, son of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, defeated BJP candidate Manikanta Rathod in the Chittapur constituency by a margin of 13,640 votes.

In the Athani constituency, Laxman Savadi, a former BJP member who left the party after being refused a ticket, is running against Mahesh Kumathalli of the BJP.

In the BTM Layout constituency, Ramalinga Reddy of the Congress is in the lead versus KR Sridhara of the BJP.


The son of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyank Kharge, who ran from Chittapur, is currently in the lead against Manikanta Rathod of the BJP. 53.08 percent of votes have been cast in favour of Kharge.

In the race against the BJP's S Satheesh Swamy, Tanveer Sait, who the party fielded from Narasimharaja, is now in the lead.

State minister and BJP leader V Somanna, who ran in both Varuna and Chamarajanagar, is doing poorly on both of his seats.
In the race for the Varuna seat against C Puttarangashetty of the Congress, he is losing to Siddaramaiah.

Former chief minister and Janata Dal-Secular leader HD Kumaraswamy is running against BJP candidate CP Yogeshwara in Channapatna.

BY Vijayendra, who ran from his father's stronghold of Shikaripura, and is the son of former CM BS Yediyurappa, is in the lead.

CT Ravi of the BJP, who ran from Chikmagalur, is falling behind HD Thammaiah of the Congress. 

Suar Assembly Seat: In Lucknow,  Shafeek Ahmed Ansari, Apna Dal (Soneylal) candidate for the Suar assembly by-polls has won the seat, as per the Election Commission of India. Ansari, the candidate of the Apna Dal (S) and BJP alliance, won the Suar seat by 8724 votes by defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Anuradha Chauhan.
