Karnataka: Pratap Reddy IPS appointed new Bangalore city police commissioner

BANGALORE: According to an official order, the Karnataka government on Monday appointed senior IPS officer CH Pratap Reddy as the new Bengaluru city police commissioner, succeeding Kamal Pant.

Reddy formerly served as Karnataka's Additional Director General of Police. Pant was promoted as Director General of Police (DGP)-police recruiting by the state government.

IPS Alok Kumar has also been named as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for law and order.

Meanwhile, IPS R Hitendra has been appointed as the Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), while MN Anuchet has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Criminal Investigation Department.

Reddy is known for his technical expertise in cracking financial fraud cases, according to sources, particularly during his time with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Bengaluru and Mumbai. He has also served as Bengaluru's additional commissioner of police.

Meanwhile, R Hithendra has been relocated again again after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) launched its investigation into the police sub-inspector (PSI) recruiting fraud. Hithendra has been assigned to the Karnataka State Reserve Police as an additional director general of police.
