Minister for public works H.D. Revanna has been knocking on the doors of senior Congress leaders in Hassan to shore up support for his son Prajwal, who is contesting ongoing parliamentary elections from Hassan constituency. Interestingly, both leaders have not spoken to each other for around 2 decades and they met on Tuesday and discussed politics at the meeting in Kuvempu Nagar, which they sought to keep secret.

On Tuesday morning, H.D. Revanna meets Congress leader B. Shivaram to ask for his help in taking on Mr. A. Manju of the BJP in the constituency. Congress leader had decided to set aside his past rivalry with Mr. Revanna at least for the time being in the interest of the coalition government that the two are a part of currently. Congress leaders and workers should abide by the decision of Congress high command which has taken the vital decision (of the coalition with the JD (S) to keep the saffron party away from politics, said B Shivaram.

The four-time MLA, Mr. Shivaramu, has been a strong voice against JD(S) leaders in the district in the past decade. During the Congress’ rule in the State, he took on JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and Mr. Revanna on many issues. Shivaram told reporters there is no question of refusing to extend support to Prajwal as he is a candidate of the JD(S)-Congress alliance. “We will abide by directives of the party’s top brass,” Shivaram said.
