Karnataka: A principal of a residential school in Karnataka's Yadgir district was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of sexually harassing female students, according to police. Hayyalappa, the Principal of Kittur Rani Chennamma Residential School in Varkanalli, near Yadgir, has been named as the suspect.
Hayyalappa allegedly sexually harassed female students by promising them good grades in their class 10 exams, according to the police. He pulled the girls into public and threatened them to collaborate with him. According to the authorities, he allegedly harassed individuals who resisted to his advances by denying them meals in the hostel mess.
Students who could no longer stand his torment filed an eight-page complaint with Deputy Commissioner Ragapriya. Ragapriya asked his officials to file a complaint against the accused as soon as possible after hearing the students' complaints. The principal was detained and taken into jail by the police after a complaint was filed at the City Women's Police Station. The accused harassed female students by promising them good grades in internals and threatening them to comply with him, according to Yagdgir Superintendent S.B. Vedamurthy.
