Karnataka Schools likely to shut again amid Omicron threat

Karnataka: Schools in Karnataka may be closed again as a result of the Omicron threat in the state. However, there has been no confirmation on the subject thus far. Against the backdrops of finding the number of COVID-19 cases in educational institutions rises, Karnataka Education Minister B.C. Nagesh has hinted this.

If fresh COVID-19 cases are detected at schools, colleges, hostels, or nursing schools, the authorities may decide to restrict students from attending offline classes. The overall number of active COVID-19 cases in Karnataka is 7161, with a fatality rate of 1.28 percent. Furthermore, COVID-19 has an active ratio of 0.24 percent in Karnataka.

The first occurrence of the Omicron form in India was reported in Karnataka. COVID-19 was recently detected in 59 persons and 10 staff members of a residential school in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. More swabs have been collected from educational institution employees and students in order to combat the spread of the increasing COVID-19 cluster. In addition, the administration agreed to take a number of actions, including postponing events in educational institutions and others.
