Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has directed strict disciplinary action against 150 Horticulture Producers Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society Limited (HOPCOMS) employees for being absent from work.

Yeddyurappa said in the review meeting of the Department of Agriculture, Horticulture and Sericulture that Horticulture Producers should take disciplinary action against 150 absentee employees of Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society Limited. Out of 550 HOPCOMs shops in the state, only 250 are open, the Chief Minister has directed to take action against those not opening shops. Yeddyurappa has also directed to officially cancel all deputation in the agriculture and horticulture departments.

Apart from this, he gave a relief amount of 666 crores to the maize and flower growers. Apart from this, the Chief Minister said that no permission should be given to drill new borewells as the state receives good rains. He assured the people of Karnataka not to worry about the herds of the local people, as scientists said. It will not have any effect. On the other hand, the number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country has crossed two lakhs. During the last 24 hours, 8,909 new cases of coronavirus have been reported, while 217 people have died during this period. There are 1,01,497 active cases of coronavirus in the country, while the number of healthy patients has increased to 1,00,302.
