Kartarpur corridor to be completed by 30th September, Pb Minister informed

Chandigarh: Punjab Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Saturday said that construction of Kartarpur corridor towards Indian border will be completed by September 30. The corridor will connect Dera Baba Nanak Gurdwara in Gurdaspur in Punjab Pradesh in India and Gurudwara Darbar Sahib located in Kartarpur, Pakistan.

Mr. Singla issued an official release saying that "the construction of the corridor will be concluded by September 30 which will begin before the 550 Prakash Parv (birthday) of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism." "After inspecting all the preparations, the PWD minister has said that the corridor will be constructed on the lines of the state-of-the-art expressway. He has stated that the length of the corridor on the Indian border will be 4.2 km. Singla said world-class corridors will be built for devotees.

The minister said that in view of the increasing number of devotees, the paths from Batala, Fatehgarh choodiyaan and Ramdoss to Dera Baba Nanak are being upgraded. He has said that the project will cost Rs 116 crore for which 62 acres Land has already been acquired.
