Karti Chidambaram sent to 3 more days of CBI custody in INX Media case

New Delhi [India], Mar 6 (NT): In a major slow down to former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram, the Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to pass interim relief on his anticipatory bail plea and posted the issue for hearing to March 8 in connection with the INX media case and he was sent to 3 more days of CBI custody.

The Top Court issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case filed against Karti.

Congress leader and senior advocate, Kapil Sibal, appearing for Karti who had pleaded to the Apex court for interim relief in the case.

 

"We are willing to co-operate in every way and we also did so. I am worried about my arrest," Sibal told the top court on behalf of Karti

 

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved an application seeking extension of remand for Karti saying that presence of accused is actually needed in order to serve some important and specific purposes connected with completion of inquiry in the case and court sent to him 3 more days of CBI custody.
