The month of Karthik is going on. The full moon that falls on the Shukla Paksha of this month is known as Kartik Purnima. This time Karthik Purnima is on 30 November. This day is Monday and due to this its importance has increased. On the day of Kartik Purnima, Ganga water is said to bathe, Deepdaan, Yagya and worship God. It is said that along with the charity done on this day, many religious works are especially fruitful. It is believed that the mermaid of Lord Vishnu took place on the eve of Kartik Purnima. There is another belief, according to which God Mahadev killed a demon named Tripurasura on the day of Kartik Purnima, hence this Purnima is also called Tripuri Purnima.
What to do on the full moon day- On this day, one should take a bath in a holy river, lake or pool because it is very auspicious. It is said that after bathing, Radha-Krishna should be worshipped. It is believed that donating cow, elephant, horse, chariot and ghee on this day increases wealth and donating sheep removes the sufferings of planetary yoga. Observing fast on Kartik Purnima also has great benefits. Keep in mind that those observing Kartik Purnima fast should do Havan. Bathing and donating the Ganges on the day of Kartik Purnima is as virtuous as the ten yagyas. It is very important if Kartik Purnima is in Bharani and Rohini Nakshatra.
