Now a biopic to be made on Kashmir's last Hindu queen!

There is a lot of practice in making biopics in Bollywood. So some of the famous celebrities are picking up their names and making films on their lives. Similarly, Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films are all set to bring the dramatic life of 'Kota Rani', the last Hindu queen to rule Kashmir before the Islamic rule, on the big screen. The theme of this mega-budget film will be on "Kota Rani", who ruled in the 13th century.

She was the leading hero of an extremely dramatic era, after which the Shah Mir dynasty became the first foreign ruler of a kingdom which was the center of Indian philosophy and Shaivism. Kota Rani was a very beautiful woman who was also a great administrator and military strategist. She is said to have fought and defended Kashmir against many Central Asian invaders and used his beauty to gain power over men who created trouble for Kashmir, but later she was surrounded by enemies.

Says Madhu Mantana, co-producer of the film, "It's very surprising that we don't know enough or about a person like the Indian Kota Rani. Comparing them to Cleopatra is not an exaggeration, and the things we're seeing today are directly related to the story of the Kota Queen. Her life was dramatic and she was probably India's most capable female ruler. It would be a shame not to know about them."
