Everyone knows the Father of the Nation, but does anyone know the secret of Gandhi's success. It is said that behind every successful man is a woman's hand. His wife Kasturba Gandhi was also behind Mahatma Gandhi. Kasturba Gandhi was born on 11 April 1869 in Porbandar, Kathiawar, Gujarat. Although Kasturba was 6 months older than Mahatma Gandhi. His father Gokuldas Makanji was an ordinary businessman. Kasturba was his third child. As a child, he got engaged to Mahatma Gandhi at the age of 7 and both of them got married when Kasturba turned 13.

The two lived together from the year 1896 after returning from England and South Africa. It was here that his life changed and later he got the name of Ba. In the year 1932, Bapu fasted in Yerawada jail with regard to the Harijans, after which Ba was in Sabarmati jail but she got to rest when she was sent to Yerwada jail. In South Africa, a law was passed in 1913 that recognized marriages other than those conducted in accordance with Christianity and those recorded with the marriage department official.

She also opposed the law there and performed Satyagraha. According to Christian opinion, the marriage was being accepted by the government there, but they took Satyagraha along with some other women and the authorities had to obey them. She stood step by step with Mahatma Gandhi. Many times Mahatma Gandhi ji does not support her but she never left Bapu. On 22 February 1944, she continued her satyagraha movement in India against the English story and gave up her life.
