Katrina Kaif is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Bharat with co-star Salman Khan. She will be seen playing the character of a headstrong woman named Kumud Raina and will be Salman’s love interest in the movie.
Bharat is one of the most awaited films of the year and every now and then, the star cast teases the fans with sneak-peaks from the film. On their promotional spree, the actors are opening up about their professional as well as personal life.
In a recent interview, Katrina Kaif was asked about her last on-screen character Babita Kumari, from Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero, and what type of roles will she opt for in the future. Speaking about the same, the actress said, “Today, I see Babita Kumari (Her character in 'Zero') as a character; whether she is the protagonist or not isn't important. I see Kumud as a heroic character. Tomorrow, if a role like what Deepika (Padukone) is doing in 'Chhapaak' is offered to me, I would jump at it.”
Bharat is the remake of super hit Korean film Ode to My Father. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film also stars Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Tabu, Jackie Shroff and Nora Fatehi in pivotal roles. It traces India's post-independence history from the perspective of a common man, played by Salman, and follows his life from the age of 18 to 70.
Earlier, Priyanka Chopra was to play the role of the female lead. But the actress opted out of the film a few days before shooting started and was replaced by Katrina.
