Sushil Kumar won Rs 5 crore in the fifth season of the quiz show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' hosted by Bollywood film's famous actor Amitabh Bachchan. On winning such a huge amount, a person starts fulfilling his dreams and something similar happened with Sushil Kumar, who went into deep tension after winning such a huge amount. He posted about his ordeal on his Facebook page and how winning in Kaun Banega Crorepati was the worst phase of his life. Sushil Kumar has now returned to normal life, he has resumed teaching, said goodbye to smoking and has become an environmentalist.

Sushil's FB post was captioned, "The worst period of my life." 2015-2016 was the most challenging time of my life. I didn't know what to do. I was a local figure and somewhere in Bihar, I used to attend events for 10 or sometimes even 15 days in a month. I was getting away from my studies and because I was a local celebrity, I took the media very seriously in those days. Sometimes journalists would interview me and write about me. I used to tell them about my business so that I don't look unemployed to them. However, those businesses closed a few days later.

He further spoke of becoming a fool after 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', he said that after 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', I became a philanthropist, who was addicted to 'secret charity' and used to attend thousands of programs in a month. Because of this many times, people cheated on me, Which I came to know only after donating later. Because of this my relationship with my wife was getting worse gradually. She often said that I did not know how to differentiate between right and wrong people and I was not worried about the future. We used to fight over this often. Sushil further said that due to my business, I met some children doing journalism courses in Jamila Millia. Spoke to some IIMC and some JNU students also. I also met with some theatre artists. But when these students and artists used to talk about a subject, I used to get scared as to why I had no knowledge about it. Slowly, I got addicted to alcohol and smoking. Whenever I stayed in Delhi for a week, I used to drink and smoke with seven different groups. Sushil further explained how he became poor, he wrote 'And now, How did I go bankrupt? You will find the story a bit 'filmy'. That night, while I was watching the movie 'Pyaasa' which was at its climax, my wife comes screaming and says I will go crazy watching the same movie over and over again. He asked me to leave the room. I closed my laptop and went for a walk. I was disappointed as we had not spoken for more than a month. And while I was walking, a journalist from an English newspaper called. When everything was going well, suddenly he asked me something which irritated me, then I suddenly told him that all my money is gone and I have two cows and I am surviving by selling milk and earning some money from him. After that, you all will be aware of the effect of that news. soon afterwards, People stopped contacting me. I also stopped being invited to events and that's when I got time to think about what I should do next.

Sushil wrote that in the meantime, there was a big fight between my wife and me. Thereafter, she went to her maternal home and asked for a divorce. Then I realized that if I want to save my marriage, I have to become a film director and give myself a new identity. So Sushil thought of becoming a film director and he came to Mumbai. But there he realized that he is not someone who has come to Mumbai to become a director, but a fugitive who runs away from the truth. Happiness is hidden in small things. Trying to help people as much as possible, which should start from their home/village. I wrote three scripts which a production house liked and they gave me 20 thousand rupees for it. After leaving Mumbai, Sushil went back home and started a new life. He started teaching children and quit smoking in the year 2019 and got involved in many projects which brought him peace. Sushil Kumar also informed that he was honoured by SBI Bank for being among the top 20 depositors of their Motihari branch.
