Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah team recalled the moments spent with Kavi Kumar Azad in a recent interview. Dilip Joshi, who played Jethalal on the show, became emotional.
Dilip Joshi said, "Whenever I look at a new doctor, it seems that Azad is a brother. We remember Azad Bhai very much. I was in London when the incident happened a year ago. As soon as I found out about this news my legs were trembling. I was convinced when Amit Bhatt and the show's producer Asit Modi told me. It seemed as if the ground had slipped from under the feet. Even today Azad remembers pulling my leg. He spent such memorable moments with them that he could never be forgotten," he said.
Ambika Ranjankar, who plays Komal's role in the serial, also recalled Azad saying, "He is always in our memories. The whole team remembers the moments spent with them. Still, we remember how he was extremely happy on his last birthday July 7. It was only two days after the incident," she said.
Says Malav Rajda, director of Tarak Mehta: "There is no day when they have not been missed. Been a year I haven't been in their makeup room yet. Nirmal has replaced him in the serial. He says the show is must go on but it's never possible to replace someone. He was very fond of food. We often used to eat in with them on set."
