KCR announces sops for students of backward sections

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR)  on Tuesday showered sops on students belonging to backward classes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and minorities, by offering free education till class 12 to aiding preparation for competitive exams 

Chief Minster directed officials to upgrade existing government residential schools (gurukulams) of BCs, SCs, STs and minorities for the introduction of Intermediate courses from the current academic year (2022-23). In addition, 15 women's residential degree colleges are to be established this academic year, and 17 more institutes from the next academic year, to cover all 33 districts.

KCR said that the population of backward communities is more in the state and therefore, there is a need to increase residential educational institutions to meet future requirements. KCR  also announced the setting up of 132 new study circles, one each for backward Communities, Schedule castes, and Schedule tribes,  and minorities in each district.

He also gave instructions to create organisations called the "All India Services Study Circle of Telangana State" to prepare students for the IAS, IPS, IFS, Group-I, and other competitive exams for Central and state government service.

At the Pragathi Bhavan on Tuesday, the CM discussed residential education and skill-development programmes for BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities with the relevant ministers and authorities. To assist people in finding jobs, he instructed officials to transform study circles run by backward communities, and minorities into skill development training centres and advisory centres. He said, study circles should not confine to training students for only competitive examinations but also help them develop skills to secure jobs in various sectors.
