HYDERABAD: Prominent Opposition leaders, including the Chief Ministers of 4 states, are likely to attend a public meeting called by BRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) in Khammam, Hyderabad on January 18 to lead the Opposition's show of power amid efforts to evolve a common strategy to defeat the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance next year.

This is the party's first open gathering since the Election Commission authorised the TRS to BRS name change on December 8.

The Chief Minister has invited several regional party leaders in addition to the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, Samajwadi Party chief and former CM of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Yadav.

The CM wants to outline the BRS's national political goals and objectives, as well as the initiatives and programmes for development that it plans to implement if it wins the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Party insiders claim that Kejriwal and Mann have confirmed their attendance.

KCR will inaugurate the district collectorate before launching Kanti Velugu 2.0 in Khammam with other CMs. In order to make the BRS's first public meeting a huge success, KCR has set a goal for party leaders in the Khammam district of mobilising five lakh people for the public meeting.
