Kedarnath: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today unveiled a statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya at Kedarnath Dham. Tell all of you that the idol was made by Mysore sculptor Arun Yogiraj. I am extremely personal that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has named the statue of Adiguru Shankaracharya in the name of the country."
At the same time, Yogiraj also said, "When the government decided to install the statue of Shankaracharya, samples of the idol were invited from sculptors across the country. Finally, my sample was chosen and since then the Prime Minister's Office has been personally monitoring the progress of this work." Yogiraj also said, "Black granite stone was selected from HD quota in Mysuru to make the idol and a team of seven people carried out the work."
He says the "12-foot-high statue weighs about 28 tonnes and was built in July. It was then taken to Uttarakhand."
