Gujrat: Arvind Kejriwal, the founder of the Aam Aadmi Party and the current chief minister of Delhi, pledged on Tuesday that if his party wins the election in Gujarat, there will be no corruption in government.

Speaking to the media here, the Aam Aadmi Party president said, "Anyone involved in corrupt government activities, whether they are associated with the AAP or other parties, would be imprisoned.

In his speech to sanitation workers at a town hall gathering in Ahmedabad, Kejriwal outlined a five-point guarantee for transparent and free of corruption government. In addition, he attacked the BJP, accusing it of engaging in corruption, and vowed that if the AAP was elected, all dishonest politicians would be brought to court. Kejriwal mentioned a decision made by the Punjab government, which is run by the AAP, to fire a minister for corrupt behaviour.

Furthermore, he guaranteed that public monies would only be used for public development; neither would they be given to corporate allies nor permitted to pave way for tax havens.

Kejriwal claimed that residents of the BJP-controlled states are required to pay bribes in order to complete their work in government agencies.

When asked about Congress leader Ajoy Kumar's statement that the Punjab government is wasting money on advertisements when it lacks the funds to pay the salaries of college professors, Kejriwal responded: "Congress is finished, stop taking Congress party's question." In response to the BJP's assertion that activist and Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Medha Patkar will be put forward as the AAP's candidate for Gujarat's chief minister in the upcoming assembly elections, Kejriwal"

In the meantime, the Congress has launched a broadside against Kejriwal, charging that he misused public funds for his own promotion. The grand old party made fun of the fact that the entire name of the AAP is now "Arvind Advertisement Party, Arvind Actor Party, and Arvind Aish Party."
