New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal has announced that its party will pick up the pace in campaign for statehood for Delhi.

The AAP leader and co-founder declared it when he was addressing a meeting of party workers and senior members at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi stadium.

He said his party would present 10 lakh letters from Delhi’s inhabitants to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging full statehood for the city-state.

Earlier, the Delhi assembly had passed a resolution for full statehood.This was also AAP’s pre-election promise. CM Kejriwal stated on Sunday that he wanted to ring a bell for PM Modi of his promise to Delhi to give full statehood before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

He asserted that If the prime minister doesn’t fulfill “on the promise”, the Bhartiya Janata Party will “fail to bag a single seat from Delhi”.

CM Kejriwal asked for all political parties to come together on this subject as the fight was not his party’s only, he further said.

AAP Chief also questioned to Congress scion Rahul Gandhi. The Congress president must “make clear if Congress is in favor of giving full statehood to Delhi or not”, Kejriwal was quoted by NDTV as saying.

He asked for Rahul Gandhi to shed light on his stance on the issue especially since Delhi Congress leaders Ajay Maken and Sheila Dikshit appeared to be criticized to the statehood demand.

 Worth mention here Posting an open letter on the AAP’s Twitter handle On Saturday, the Delhi chief minister had claimed that both arc rivals the BJP and grand old Congress had “betrayed” Delhiites on the concern of statehood.
