NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has denied Lieutenant Governor V.K Saxena's invitation to a meeting set for today, January 27.

The Delhi LG has invited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and ten Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs to a meeting today at 4 p.m. However, instead of accepting the invitation, the Delhi Chief Minister requested that the meeting be rescheduled because he will be in Punjab today.

Kejriwal will open 500 Aam Aadmi clinics (Mohalla clinics) in Amritsar, Punjab, on January 27.

"Thank you, Mr. LG. I'm leaving for Punjab tomorrow. We are seeking that the Honorable Lieutenant Governor reschedule the meeting "According to a statement issued by the chief minister's office in Delhi.

The invitation is significant because the AAP party and the LG's office have been at odds over a number of topics since the AAP party took control in 2013.

On Fridays, the LG and the chief minister hold their weekly meetings. The LG office and the AAP administration are currently at odds about sending teachers to Finland for training. The Delhi government has proposed sending its teachers to Finland for training.

On January 16, Kejriwal and AAP MLAs marched from the Vidhan Sabha to Raj Niwas (LG's office) to protest his purported rejection of a teachers' training proposal. However, after nearly an hour of waiting, Kejriwal said that LG refused to meet him.
