New Delhi: The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has called a strike on Thursday (January 6, 2022) against the Kejriwal government for not releasing grants fully to 12 colleges in fully funded DU. A statement issued by the DUTA said that the fund made by the AAP government is cut due to non-payment of salaries and other allowances to the employees of these 12 colleges.

DUTA had also held an online emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the issue. It was decided to go on strike today i.e. Thursday. In a statement, DUTA said, "Due to funding cuts by Delhi's Kejriwal government, salaries and other allowances for two to six months have not been paid in 12 colleges funded by the Delhi government, which has caused a lot of inconvenience to the teachers and employees of these various colleges.''

According to the report, DUTA said irregular and incomplete distribution of grants and funds by Delhi's AAP government is not acceptable. The Union has urged teachers to stay away from all official functions and also boycott online teaching on the day of strike against irregularities by the Kejriwal government. This is not the first time that there is a strike or agitation in Delhi due to non-timely payment of salaries and other allowances. There has been a tug of war between the DU and the Kejriwal government over the release of the fund for quite some time now.
