Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi has asserted that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision to resign is a result of widespread dissatisfaction among the residents of Delhi with the performance of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Marandi highlighted issues faced by Delhiites, particularly migrants from Jharkhand. In a post on X, he said, "Thousands of migrants from Jharkhand live in Delhi. During my visit, both in person and through mobile communication, they kept me updated on the hellish conditions caused by rainwater entering homes up to the first floor due to the lack of proper drain cleaning. Their vehicles are being ruined by flooding, and they’re also dealing with skyrocketing electricity and water bills."

He claimed that residents are "extremely angry and upset" with the Kejriwal government and accused AAP of a series of corrupt practices.

Marandi suggested that Kejriwal recognized that remaining in power would only diminish his popularity further. "Perhaps for these reasons, Kejriwal ji has decided to step down as Chief Minister and is planning for elections to be held soon," he asserted.

On Sunday, Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation as Delhi Chief Minister, effective September 17, and stated he is ready for an "agnipariksha" (trial by fire). He declared at the party headquarters that he would not return to the Chief Minister's office unless re-elected by the people.

Kejriwal's decision has sparked a political debate. Some critics have suggested that Kejriwal should have resigned earlier while in jail to avoid additional public inconvenience. Supporters, however, believe his actions were appropriate.

Both the BJP and Congress have questioned the timing of his resignation. The BJP accused Kejriwal of staging a "drama" and labeled him a "CM on bail," alleging that the delay was due to his inability to sign documents because of court restrictions. Congress dismissed the resignation as a "mere gimmick," asserting there is "no connection between morality and Arvind Kejriwal."
