New Delhi: The body of Kerala's Soumya Santosh, who was killed in a rocket attack in Israel, reached Delhi airport on Saturday morning. From here her mortal remains will be sent to Idukki in Kerala where hier last rites will be performed. Soumya Santosh worked as a nurse in Israel and was killed in a rocket attack by Palestinian terror group Hamas on May 11. Minister of State for External Affairs V Muralitharan had reached the airport to receive the body.

Soumya Santosh, 30, was a resident of Kanjiramnatham in Idukki district of Kerala. She worked as a nurse with an elderly woman in Ashkalon in Israel. The area is near the Gaza Strip and has been badly affected by the Hamas attack. Soumya had been living in Israel for the past 7 years. She also has a 9-year-old son who lives with her husband in Kerala. According to the family, Soumya spoke to her husband on a video call in the evening shortly before the attack.

According to local media, the attack took place at 9 pm local time on Tuesday. The rocket fired by Hamas was reportedly fired directly at home. Soumya died on the spot while the 80-year-old woman was badly injured. No information about her condition has yet come to light.
