Kochi: On Monday an election official has suspended five voter ID cards were found in the name of a single man in a computer system in Udma in Kasargod district of Kerala. Chief Electoral Officer Tika Ram Meena said that the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer in Udma has suspended 5 cards were found in the name of 61-year-old voter Kumari found in the system. He said, however, that only one of these cards was issued and the remaining four were canceled.
On allegations by Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala regarding the irregularity in preparing the voter list, he said that he did a detailed investigation of 'many entries' marked by him and found that there were 590 entries which were double. He said that this is not a new thing, due to many reasons, we see this in many states. Further said that no political motive has come up in this matter so far. If so, I cannot say much about it.
He said that it does not come under my purview. He said that if the fake game is found in the exercise of issuing voter cards, then strict action will be taken against such officers. Meena said that many entries were not new and were in all states. Which can be while applying for the card.
