Kochi: A teacher of Moral Education (Moral Science) raped a class 1st student in Kunnamkulam, Kerala, has been sentenced to 29 years and 6 months by a Pocso court. Abdul Rafiq, 44, from Karadan House in Chirakuzhi, Nilambur, used to teach at a private school in Puthumansseri, Pawartti. Special POCSO Fast-Track Court Justice MP Shibu has also imposed a fine of Rs 2.15 lakh on him.

Rafique will have to serve an additional sentence of two years and nine months if he fails to pay the fine. According to reports, Special Public Prosecutor Advocate KS Binu appeared for the prosecution. According to media reports, Abdul Rafique committed the heinous act during a school picnic in 2012. The baby had in a lot of pain after coming back from the picnic. She told her mother about this, after which she rushed her to the hospital.

During the medical test, it was found that the girl was raped causing serious injuries to her private parts. The family then approached the police and told them the entire case after which the police registered a case against the accused and took further action.
