Thiruvananthapuram: In the past 24 hours, Kerala has documented 265 new instances of COVID-19 and recorded one death linked to the virus, as per the latest data published on the Union Health Ministry's website this Friday. Among the 328 reported coronavirus infections across the country until 8 am today, a significant majority—265 cases—originated from Kerala, pushing the active caseload in the state to 2,606, as per the website statistics.

This recent fatality in the state has elevated the total count of COVID-19-related deaths in Kerala to 72,060 since the onset of the pandemic three years ago.

Within the past day, 275 individuals have recuperated, been discharged, or relocated post-diagnosis, marking a total of 68,37,689 cases falling under this recovery category to date.

On Thursday, the state had reported 300 new COVID-19 infections and three deaths attributed to the virus.

Health Minister Veena George, on Tuesday, reassured the residents of Kerala that despite the surge in COVID-19 cases, there's no need for widespread concern. She affirmed that hospitals are sufficiently equipped to manage virus-related cases.
