Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently expressed gratitude to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the six-laning of National Rajmarg-66 from Kodungallur in Thrissur to Edapalli in Ernakulam. The total cost is expected to be 3,465.82 crores.

Let us inform you that the highway's six lanes are part of the Bharatmala Project Initiative's Hybrid Annuity Model, which is a Central Government-sponsored and supported road and highway project. The Chief Minister recently took to Twitter to express his thoughts. He praised Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for authorising six-lane road work between Kodungallur and Edapalli in a tweet.

Let us also remind you that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated earlier this week that "construction on six-laning national roads has stepped up, and the National Highways Authority (NHAI) has validated the deal for 16 out of 20 sections." Not only that, but he had also stated that the State Government will cover 25% of the land purchase costs and provide the most suitable compensation to landowners under the Land Acquisition Act of 2013.
