Kochi: Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) Lokanath Behera has admitted that several youths from the state have joined terror outfits. He said the terrorists in the state have made land for recruitment in their organizations. He said radicalization is a big problem in Kerala and the police are making several efforts to deal with it. DGP Lokanath Behera is scheduled to retire on Wednesday (June 30, 2021).

He earlier participated in an event with TV channels and admitted that the increase in the influence of terror outfit ISIS in Kerala is a matter of concern. The fundamentalists are being involved. However, he also claimed that the process has slowed down now. He said ISIS wants to include the people of Kerala in its organization because it is a highly educated state and terrorist organizations also need engineers and doctors.

He said police have received information in this regard quoting intelligence sources. Lokanath Behera, Kerala Police has worked systematically to deal with it. He said the Kerala Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) identified people who were suspected to be involved in terror outfits with the help of their families. He said Kerala police has done a good job after reports of 21 families going to areas under the control of ISIS.
