Kerala Engg student cuts throat, ends life in Bangalore College

BANGALORE:  In an extremely shocking incident, an engineering student from Kerala, studying at a College in Anekal town of Bangalore committed suicide by cutting his throat. The incident came to light on December 15.

Nitin, a 19-year-old student at Bangalore AMC Engineering College in the Bannerghatta neighborhood, is identified as the deceased. In the Kozhikode district of Kerala, Nitin is a native of the Koyalandi village, which is close to the Padini Zaria region.

His parents live in Dubai and he was admitted to the college by his brother. The police believe that parental neglect was the cause of the suicide.

Nitin enrolled in the CES course for the first year of college on December 1, saidthe police. In the college's bathroom, Nitin cut himself in the throat with a knife.

The Bannerghatta police who are conducting the probe said Nitin was depressed because he was separated from his parents. He kept calling his parents after enrolling in college.

His roommate's and his college mates' statements have been gathered by the police. The students have told police that Nitin was calling his parents and quarrelled with them that they should come down to see him. However, further investigation is underway to trace the situation.
