Kochi: The body of Eastern Railway and Kerala's left-arm spinner Mani Suresh Kumar (47) has been found hanging from the roof of his house in Alappuzha, Kerala. He has been a partner of Rahul Dravid in Team India's former Under-19 'Test' team. He lived with his wife and a son. According to the information received, Suresh's wife and son found him hanging inside his bedroom on Friday evening and informed the police.

A former Kerala player told the media on condition of anonymity, "He was a great cricketer. The problem with him was that he was addicted to alcohol. He also quarreled, although his financial condition was fine. It seems to be a case of suicide. " Suresh played 72 first-class matches between 1991–92 and 2005–06, taking 196 wickets at an average of 27.77 as well as 1,657 runs, including a century and seven half-centuries.

Suresh, a Southern Railway official, first represented Kerala in the Ranji Trophy in 1991–92 and then moved to the Railways, where he served in 1995–96. He then played for Kerala again from 1999–2000 to 2005–06 until the end of his Ranji career. In addition to playing the Ranji Trophy, Suresh also played the Duleep Trophy representing the South Zone and Central Zone.
