Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court (HC) upheld Rabins Hameed's preventive detention under the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities (COFEPOSA) Act on Tuesday, November 9). Rabins Hameed is accused in the Kerala Gold Smuggling Case.

The High court rejected Fousia Rabins' request to have the detention order lifted, despite the fact that she is the accused's wife. The decision was upheld by a Division Bench consisting of Justice AK Jayasankaran Nambiar and Justice Mohammed Nias CP.

Rabins Hameed was granted bail by the Kerala High Court on November 2 in the case filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). However, he was still being held under the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act. Rabins was apprehended by the investigation agency on October 26, 2020, after arriving from Dubai at Kochi airport.
