Kerala: Goods train derails at Aluva railway station, Four trains cancelled

KOCHI: Train services on the Aluva route were affected on Friday after a freight train derailed at the railway station here.

Around 10.30 p.m. on Thursday, four bogies of a cargo train bound for Kollam derailed while entering the third platform of Aluva station. According to railway officials, no one was hurt in the accident.

Several trains were stranded for hours at several stations as a result of the incident. However, about 2 a.m., traffic on one of the rails was resumed. According to the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division, all routes would be cleaned by 8 a.m. on Friday.

The Ernakulam-Kannur Intercity (train no 16305), Guruvayur-Thiruvananthapuram Intercity (16341), Kottayam-Nilambur (16326), Nilambur-Kottayam (16325), and Guruvayur-Ernakulam (06439) express trains were all cancelled on Friday. The Rajya Rani Express (No 16350) between Nilambur Road and Kochuveli is presently 6 hours late.

The Ernakulam-Pune express (22149), which was scheduled to leave Ernakulam Junction at 5.15 a.m., will be delayed for at least 3 hours, according to officials.
