Kochi: Family members of Marxist Communist Party (CPIM) members who were in judicial custody in 2019 for the murder of two Youth Congress workers in Kasargod district of Keral have been given government jobs. The Zilla Panchayat has given jobs to the wives of CPI(CPIM) members M Pitambaran, CJ Saji and Suresh in the district government hospital.

The CPIM activists allegedly killed youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sarath Lal in February 2019. The three have been in judicial custody since then. According to media reports, four posts were vacant for the last class of people in the hospital for which 100 people were shortlisted. Three family members of the arrested accused have been given jobs. In fact, the Kerala government is trying to save the party workers CPIM accused of murder. The chargesheet filed by the state police had nominated prosecution witnesses inplace of the accused. On the other hand, when the high court transferred the case to CBI, the state government had approached the Supreme court to stop it. However, the Supreme Court had dismissed the kerala government's plea.

Kasaragod zilla panchayat vice president Shanwas Podhur said, "The wives of CPIM party workers involved in the murder of two youth Congress workers were not deliberately appointed. He further said that the hospital is managed by the Zilla Panchayat, but this time we did not attend the interview of the applicants. However, such political recommendations are common. It is just a temporary appointment. On the other hand, Sarath Lal's father Satyanarayanan has termed the appointment as a heinous act". He has said, "This clearly shows that CPIM is with the killers".
