Kochi: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has slammed a statement criticizing Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan. Taking a dig at Vijayan on Saturday, Arif said that I am glad that he is not trying to play the game behind the scenes at least now. In fact, a day before the governor's statement, Vijayan had criticized the governor's statement on alleged nepotism in the appointment process of state universities as "absurd".

Arif Mohammad Khan, in a press briefing here on Saturday morning, said that he is very happy that CM Vijayan made a statement on the university appointments. He said, 'I support his statement. Because at least he's not trying to play the game behind the scenes anymore.' The governor, who was clearly upset, said that the CM asked some of the VCs to disobey the orders of the Chancellor and instead of using proxy tools like those VCs, Vijayan has come forward at least now.

Khan alleged that some time back an attempt was made to physically assault him at Kannur University, but the police were stopped from registering a case in this regard. He said, 'What was the duty of the police? Registering a case… Who stopped the police from registering a case? Who had the Home Department? Who is trying to defame and humiliate the tenure of the Governor? You tried every trick to put pressure on me and intimidate me.'
