Kerala HM cautions voters on Concern over transmission of COVID-19

Thiruvananthapuram:  Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja expressed concern about the transmission of COVID-19 while campaigning for local body election. The minister also warned that things would go out of hand if voters do not take precautionary measures.

The minister said all parties should adhere to the directions of the health department. Meantime, the state government’s COVID prevention will benefit the LDF in the elections, she told a private channel.

3382 people contracted the disease yesterday. The results of 6055 were negative. 21 deaths were confirmed yesterday. With this, 2244 have lost their lives due to the virus. 34689 samples were examined yesterday.

The district-wise figures for those who tested positive today for Coronavirus infection are Malappuram 611, Kozhikode 481, Ernakulam 317, Alappuzha 275, Thrissur 250, Kottayam 243, Palakkad 242, Kollam 238, Thiruvananthapuram 234, Kannur 175, Pathanamthitta 91, Wayanad 90, Kasaragod 86 and Idukki 49. Of those diagnosed, 64 have come to the state from outside. The count of the locally transmitted cases in the districts are Malappuram 578, Kozhikode 447, Ernakulam 246, Alappuzha 258, Thrissur 244, Kottayam 240, Palakkad 104, Kollam 235, Thiruvananthapuram 153, Kannur 121, Pathanamthitta 76, Wayanad 78, Kasaragod 75 and Idukki 25. The tally of the infected medical or para-medical personnel from the districts are Kozhikode 11, Thiruvananthapuram 6, Kannur 4; Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram & Wayanad 2 each, and Kollam, Kottayam, Palakkad & Kasaragod 1 each.
