Kerala ISIS module case: NIA detains 4 operatives; conducts searches in Jammu and Karnataka

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 4 conducted searches at 5 locations in Jammu & Kashmir and Karnataka in ISIS module case of Kerala and apprehended four terror operatives. They have been identified as Muzammil Hassan Bhat of Bandipora in Kashmir, Obaid Hamid of Bemina in Srinagar, Ammar Abdul Rahman of Ullal Mangalore and Shankar Venkatesh Perumal aka Ali Muaviya of Bangalore, as per reports

The case pertains to the terrorist activities of a group led by one Mohammed Ameen of Kerala.. The group has been running various ISIS propaganda channels on different social media platforms such as Telegram, Hoop and Instagram for propagating the violent Jihadi ideology of ISIS, and radicalising and recruiting new members to the module. The NIA had registered a case against seven known and other unnamed persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on March 5, 2021.

Earlier, NIA had conducted searches and had booked to three accused persons namely Mohammad Ameen, Rahees Rasheed and Mushab Anwar in this case in March.
